Taylor Coleman and Todd Bergman are ultra-talented college athletes who have been friends since childhood.
Taylor is frustrated by the glass ceiling she faces after graduation, knowing she’ll never be a pro baseball player in the major leagues, even though she’s better than her male counterparts.
Todd has loved Taylor since they met as young kids but respects her too much to tell her. He doesn’t want to get in the way of her future in sports. Her driving belief that family obligations come first and that career aspirations should be sacrificed worries him, since he wants the best for her.
The sweet part of this story is that the two love each other but won’t admit it. Through a strange “friends with benefits” relationship, they soon learn the truth and finally acknowledge what they have known for years: they were made for each other.
The story shows how they ultimately find a way to achieve both: admitting their love for each other while balancing family and careers with commitment and dedication.
I would have considered this a young adult book. However, it has very steamy romantic interludes that I found somewhat over the top in their detail, and which some readers might find too graphic.
All the same, it’s a sweet coming-of-age story.
